and then silence...

Quite a statement. Then four years of silence. Okay, enough of that. Time to write...

Digital Footprint

I’ve been dragging my feet making the first post to this blog. For years I’ve been so overly concerned about my digital footprint, or the possibility of anything that I publish online may come back to haunt me. But when I look at my actual digital footprint it seems pretty inauspicious to me. At my age much of my youth is safely tucked away in an analog state of decay is one way to look at it. Nothing that some of my younger friends might have to worry about was ever digitized and put online for the entire world to see. The worst that ever happened to me was when I said that I was “in a ****in’ good mood” on Facebook one day. A few days later my wife pointed out to me how that quote had shown up on her Plaxo front page. Lesson learned!

But there’s a difference between worrying about embarrassing statements showing up in ones digital footprint and worrying that ones political stripe might impede future job prospects. But that form of censorship seems to be prevalent today and I for one intend to defy that notion. If an employer doesn’t want to hire me because I speak out for economic justice, I don’t want to work for, nor do any business whatsoever with said employer. With traditional publishing closed to opinions that dissent from Wall Street dogma, this is the only medium for freedom of expression to be practiced by EVERYONE. Not just those with the price of admission. Truth must be spoken to power.

This is a place for thoughtfulness. It is where I share my observations and analysis of current geopolitical events and trends. The past affects our present and our actions in the present shape the future. The crises inflicted by over three decades of economic injustice calls for action. Let these be the first steps.
